snakken shows people what is going on in their part of town. If you run a café, organise an evening or look after a club, this is where you put it. Here is how that works, and what is not there yet.
Claim the place and you run its page: opening hours, up to ten photos, a short note on what you do. Once your hours are in, people nearby see it in their feed while you are open, and can follow it.
What it does for placesGive it a date and a start time. People in the area see it under What's on, with a Today tag on the day. They tap I'm in, and you see how many are coming. For a festival or a sports day there is Festival mode for the people on the grounds.
What it does for eventsStart a group for the choir, the repair café or the Tuesday run. Its events show up in the feed of people nearby, and anyone can join with one tap.
What it does for clubs
Screens from the iOS app, filled with demo content for a café and a run club that do not exist.
People use snakken on their phones. If you run something, there is also a web console for your profile, opening hours, photos, notes, events and groups. It helps on the evening you update the photos.
If you sell tickets, keep selling them where you do. Payments are not part of snakken, and we have not decided how that would work.
What people see is ordered by how near it is, how new, and what they tend to turn up for. Nobody can buy a better spot, and there are no ads.
You see counts, such as how many follow or how many are going. We do not hand you a customer list or anyone's contact details.
Whoever runs it and can add a code to its website's domain. Several places, or a club with several groups? Write to us. That takes a little more setup.
We have not decided yet, so there is no price list. If the cost decides whether you take part, write to us and we will tell you where things stand.
No. You see how many follow your place and how many are checked in. No contact details come with them.
A few lines are enough: what the place, event or club is, where it is, and what you would like to do with it. We answer with what you can do today and what is not there yet.
This opens your mail app. There is no form and no tracking behind it.
